UPDATE: A man has been indicted months after a woman confronted someone walking away with her laundry, according to court documents released Thursday, Jan. 6, 2022.

An indictment charged Jonathan Louis Spiller with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, a second degree felony punishable by up to 20 years in jail and a fine not to exceed $10,000.

A court date has been tentatively set for February, according to online court records.

SAN ANGELO — A San Angelo man has been arrested after a woman confronted someone walking away with her laundry, according to an arrest affidavit released Monday.

On Sunday, Oct. 17, 2021, police arrived at an apartment complex in the 4400 block of Green Valley Trail, where someone reported a person with a weapon. Officers met with a woman, who said a man "she did not know had taken some of her clothing" from the complex's laundry room, records state.

She found a man carrying her laundry and asked if he had taken her clothes. The man dropped the clothes, then pulled out a knife and walked toward her, saying he "would stab her," according to the affidavit.

Police found a man "a few blocks" from the complex, who had a knife in his backpack. The woman identified him as the person who "attempted to stab her," records state.

Jonathan Louis Spiller, 19, was arrested Sunday on suspicion of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He remained in Tom Green County Detention Center in lieu of a $30,000 bond as of 11:45 a.m. Monday.
