Suspect sought in Cerrillos Road shooting

Jun. 27—Santa Fe police are searching for a suspect believed to have shot and wounded one person who was found Thursday at a car dealership on Cerrillos Road.

The victim suffered one gunshot wound and was hospitalized in critical but stable condition, said Deputy Chief Ben Valdez.

Police were dispatched at 5:15 p.m. Thursday to Octane GMC of Santa Fe, a car dealership at the corner of Harrison and Cerrillos roads, where the victim was found in a parking lot with a gunshot wound, he said.

In a news release, police said the victim was a 37-year-old Santa Fe resident. According to initial information, police said the suspect is a Hispanic male wearing a black-and-white Las Vegas Raiders sweatshirt, black or dark-colored shorts, white shoes and a wearing a black or dark-colored mask.

Investigators were searching for the suspect, who was at large Thursday evening, and working to determine if the shooting happened at the location, Valdez said.

The suspect is believed to have fled the scene in a dark blue Honda Accord with dark-tinted windows, a sunroof and silver rims, bearing an unknown New Mexico chile license plate, police said.

The intersection — which also houses the Interfaith Shelter at Pete's Place — was the scene of a police shooting in late April.

More than a half-dozen police vehicles lined Cerrillos Road in front of the shelter and the Octane Buick GMC car dealership following the shooting. Crime scene tape was stretched across the intersection with Harrison Road and in front of the shelter, but was in the process of being taken down shortly before 7 p.m. and the road was reopened.
