A 14-year-old boy died after being injured at Heritage Pool on Robins Air Force Base Monday afternoon, according to Houston County Coroner James Williams.

The coroner said a wall inside a restroom collapsed on the teenager and others at 3 p.m. Monday. The 14-year-old boy was transported to Houston Healthcare where he was pronounced dead upon arrival. The others were transported to a hospital in Macon, but their injuries were unknown.

An autopsy of the boy’s body is scheduled with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation’s Crime Lab in Macon later this week, Williams said, with The Office of Special Investigations looking into the incident.

Williams was unable to provide more information Tuesday.

A Robins Air Force Base spokesperson confirmed that the incident occurred in the men’s locker room at the pool.

“Four minors were injured in the incident,” they said. “One was treated on scene and three were transported to local hospitals, where one later died. We remain committed to supporting these families as we navigate through this difficult time for Team Robins.”

The spokesperson also said further details will not be released until the investigation is complete and the Heritage Club pool will remain closed until further notice.

“Our hearts are broken for these individuals and their families. We remain committed to supporting our Airmen and their loved ones as we navigate this difficult time for Team Robins,” said Col. Deedrick Reese, Installation and 78th Air Base Wing commander. “We want to thank the first responders – including lifeguards, installation and community personnel – who responded to this tragic incident with compassion and professionalism.”
