An organization dedicated to educating the public about local elections and holding elected officials accountable wants to donate “In God We Trust” signs with the rainbow flag to the Carroll school district.

The Texas Bipartisan Alliance plans to donate the signs during Monday’s regularly scheduled school board meeting that started at 4 p.m. with the executive session followed by public comments.

There is no mention of donations on the board’s agenda.

Patriot Mobile, which bills itself as the country’s only Christian conservative cellphone company, recently donated posters with a patriotic theme saying “In God We Trust” to the Carroll school district.

A state law passed during the last legislative session requires public schools to display signs and posters with the national motto “In God We Trust” in prominent places in all buildings within the school district.

The rainbow flag, also known as the gay pride flag, is a symbol of LGBTQ pride and social movements.
