Orlando weather: Showers possible tonight, into Saturday

ORLANDO, Fla. - A handful of showers and downpours through the evening. Best coverage and chance for this activity will be on the east coast of Florida. It will be very humid overnight.

LOOKING AHEAD: Still one more day of high rain chances for showers and storms on Saturday. Rain chances remain at 70% on Saturday. Showers and storms will move west to east across the Florida Peninsula with downpours, vivid lightning, and low visibility at times.

On Sunday, drier air moves in somewhat. There will still be showers and thunderstorms, but less than the last two weeks.

That trend will continue into next week. Rain chances each afternoon will be nearly 40% compared to what we've seen lately – 70%, 80%, 90%. Expect humid conditions next week. The highs each day should be in the 90s.

TRACKING THE TROPICS: Tropical Storm Gordon, formerly Tropical Depression 7, is expected to continue moving west across the Atlantic Ocean.

As of 5 p.m., it was 1045 miles west-northwest of the Cabo Verde Islands. It has maximum sustained winds of 40 mph.

No threat to Florida or the U.S., according to the latest tracks. It could possibly become a hurricane next week.

A second disturbance off the coasts of South Carolina and North Carolina has a growing chance of becoming a tropical system next week, according to the National Hurricane Center.

Thunderstorms will form along a stalled boundary this weekend, then may consolidate into a new area of lower pressure Sunday night into Monday.
