UPDATE: The child found wandering Mallard Creek Road in the dark has been reunited with his family, Charlotte-Mecklenburg police announced.

The original story is below.

A toddler was found wandering a busy northeast Charlotte road in the middle of the night and Charlotte-Mecklenburg police are asking the community for help finding family members.

The 30-pound boy was found Monday, Sept. 9, and is believed to be 2 or 3 years old, CMPD said.

“The unaccompanied child was located by a citizen around 1 a.m. ... around (the) 7900 block of Mallard Creek at the intersection of Baucom Road,” CMPD said in a news release.

“The child was found walking along Mallard Creek Road wearing short sleeve pants pajamas with green leaves and an orange tiger design on them.”

Officers were unable to get the boy to tell them his name.

Maps show the intersection is near the Keith Family YMCA and is surrounded by a mix of offices and apartment communities.

Anyone with information is asked to call 911, police said.
