Trinity Christian cancels home football game vs. Madonna

Sep. 10—MORGANTOWN — The first home football game for Trinity Christian in nearly two years will have to wait a little bit longer as the Warriors had canceled their game scheduled for this Friday against Madonna due to low numbers.

"Low numbers for this week, " Trinity head coach Jason White said. "Not for the rest of the season, but for this week."

White said the Warriors had one player go down with a broken collar bone last week and another with a concussion.

"And we have a couple more bumps and bruises that we didn't know if they'll be ready to go this week, " White said. "It ended up where it would be unsafe to play."

White wanted to make a determination on the game as early as possible so as not to inconvenience Madonna. The Blue Dons will have until the end of next week to decide if the game will be a forfeit loss for Trinity or ruled a no-contest and not count against either team's record.

Trinity (0-2) which did not field a team last season due to low participation has already had to forfeit one game this season. A player collapsed due to heat exhaustion in the team's season-opener at Federal Hocking (Oh.) two weeks ago, resulting in the game being called off and a forfeit loss for the Warriors.

Trinity lost 38-0 at Berkeley Springs last week. The Warriors' next two scheduled games are both on the road, at Conotton Valley (Oh.) on Sept. 27 and at Richwood on Oct. 11. The Warriors' next scheduled home game is Oct. 18 against Oak Glen.

Trinity last played at home on Oct. 21, 2022, in a 33-14 win over Tygarts Valley.
