You can now buy canned cocktails, hard seltzers at Pa gas stations. What to know

Pennsylvanians can now get more than just a tank of gas or their favorite pump station.

Gov. Josh Shapiro announced that gas stations and groceries stores through the Keystone State can now carry and sell canned cocktails and hard seltzers.

Here's what the allowance means, and the limits on the amount of canned cocktails and hard seltzers you can now purchase.

Canned cocktails, hard seltzers now available at PA gas stations, grocery stores

Gov. Shapiro announced the allowance through a post on the social media platform X.

"Starting today, you can get canned cocktails and hard seltzers at your local gas station or grocery store," read Shaipro's post. "We worked across the aisle — bringing Democrats and Republicans together — to advance real freedom here in PA."

How much canned cocktails, hard seltzers can I buy at a gas station?

The Shapiro Administration's press release on canned cocktails and hard seltzers sale allowance spelled out the quantity of these drinks you will be allowed to purchase.

You will be allowed to purchase up to 16 ounces of premixed, ready-to-drink cocktails with up to 12.5 percent ABV.

PA gas stations, grocery stores can only sell canned cocktails and hard seltzers on certain days

You won't be able to buy canned cocktails and hard seltzers every day nor at all hours, however.

The Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board outlined the overall availability of canned cocktails and hard seltzers in Act 86 of the Liquor Code.

Gas stations and grocery stores in Pennsylvania will be permitted to sell canned cocktails and hard seltzers Monday through Saturday until 11 p.m.

"Restaurant and hotel licensees with a Sunday sales permit may sell ready-to-drink cocktails until 11:00 p.m. on Sundays," read a portion of Act 86. "Distributor and importing distributor licensees with a Sunday sales permit may sell ready-to-drink cocktails until 9:00 p.m. on Sundays."
