President Joe Biden's decision to exit the presidential race will likey usher in a youth movement for the Democratic Party, as potential nominees are nearly half the age of the outgoing president.

Age and fitness has become a central theme for the 2024 presidential elections, as much has been made about Biden's health.

At 81, Biden is the oldest American president in history, so how old are Biden's potential successors and their possible vice presidents?

How old is Josh Shapiro?

Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro is considered a potential presidential candidate, and at 51, is more than three decades younger than Biden.

Aside from chatter of Shapiro becoming the democrat's nomination for president, there is also talk of Shapiro becoming the vice president pick.

Shapiro, if elected, would be among the 20 youngest presidents at inauguration.

The youngest president at inauguration was Theodore Roosevelt, who was 42.

According to Statista, the next youngest presidents were John F. Kennedy, 35; Bill Clinton, 46.4; Ulysses S. Grant, 46.8; Barack Obama, 47; Franklin Pierce, 48; James A. Garfield, 49.22, and James K. Polk, 49.33.

Vance would be the second youngest vice president, behind only John C. Breckenridge, if he and Trump win in November.
