Ole Miss QB Jaxson Dart breaks Rebels' consecutive completions record set by Matt Corral

OXFORD — Ole Miss quarterback Jaxson Dart completed his first 24 passes in the No. 6 Rebels' 52-3 win over Middle Tennessee on Saturday at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium, breaking the school record and setting a new SEC record.

Dart broke the Ole Miss record of 19 set by Matt Corral on Oct. 31, 2020, versus Vanderbilt.

Eli Manning had the record of 18 straight passes before Corral, set in 2001 versus Murray State in his first college start.

As for the conference record, Dart completed 36 passes in a row dating back to the Rebels' 76-0 win over Furman last week, surpassing former Tennessee quarterback Tee Martin's record of 30 consecutive passes across multiple games set in 1998.

Dart and Martin now jointly share the conference's single-game consecutive completions record of 24.

Dart and Ole Miss' offense were humming early, picking up where they left off from Week 1. Dart threw for 377 yards, completing 25 of 27 attempts to push the Rebels to a 2-0 start to the season. He has also rushed for a touchdown.

Tre Harris led receivers with 130 yards on nine catches.

Last week, Ole Miss set a school single-season passing yards record with 529. Dart was 22-of-27 passing for 418 yards and five touchdowns. True freshman Austin Simmons got in on the action late in the game with 111 yards on 7-of-16 passing.
