Olympics soccer games today: France vs. United States tops slate

The first competition at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games will be a men's soccer match.

Men's soccer is one of just two sports beginning play on Wednesday, two days ahead of the Summer Games' opening ceremony. Each team that qualified for the Olympics tournament will play its first group stage match on July 24, meaning there will be eight matches on the first day of competition.

Highlighting the first day of games is an opening contest between Olympics host France and the United States. Each nation's under-23 squad will attempt to start the tournament hot to advance out of a group that also features Guinea and New Zealand.
