Sad news Paddington fans – the first movie is leaving Netflix quite soon.

The streamer has confirmed that the 2014 movie will no longer be on the service in the UK and Ireland from October 13, meaning it’s time to get that rewatch in soon.

However, it’s not all bad news, as its 2017 sequel will remain on Netflix for the time being.

The news comes ahead of the first two movies being re-released in cinemas next month before the third, Paddington in Peru, hits the big screen in November.

Paddington is also due to tour the UK, with hand-painted statues of the iconic bear set to be added to benches across the country.

Announcing the tour, star Hugh Bonneville said in a recent video: “I am thrilled to reveal we are going to be unveiling a number of benches across the UK, all featuring a statue of our beloved bear.

"Ahead of the new film, fans, families and friends can sit down and have a chat with the marmalade-loving bear, so watch this space for more information about Paddington…coming to a bench near you!"

The third movie will see Paddington and the Browns head to Peru to visit his Aunt Lucy at the Home for Retired Bears – though she is nowhere to be found, and the group head on an adventure through the forest.

As well as returning regulars such as Ben Whishaw and Bonneville, Paddington in Peru will welcome Olivia Colman, Antonio Banderas and Carla Tous to the franchise, while Emily Mortimer takes over the role of Mrs Brown from Sally Hawkins.

New director Dougal Wilson recently opened up about why the new movie is shaking things up with a location change.

"We thought for the third film, it was very appropriate to return to Peru, but this time take his London friends and community with him and have an adventure there and in doing so, fill in some of the missing pieces about what we didn't learn in the first two films," he said.

Paddington in Peru opens in cinemas on November 8.
