'Palm Royale,' Apple TV+ series based in Palm Beach, snags 3 Emmy nominations

"Palm Royale," an offbeat and sometimes reality-straining comedy set in the Palm Beach of the late 1960s, on Wednesday snagged three Emmy nominations.

The series, which premiered in March, was nominated for Outstanding Comedy Series; Kristen Wiig got the nod for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series; and Carol Burnett was nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series.

The Television Academy announced the nominations for the 2024 Primetime Emmy Awards.

The Apple TV+ series is loosely based on the novel "Mr. and Mrs. American Pie" by Juliet McDaniel. The show stars Wiig as Maxine Simmons, an outsider desperate to break into Palm Beach society in 1969. Her first goal: to join the elite Palm Royale club, an amalgamation of Palm Beach clubs of the era.
