From parking to concerts: Everything you need to know about the 2024 Oklahoma State Fair

The Oklahoma State Fair kicks off in less than two weeks. Are you ready for 11 days of rides, food, entertainment and more?

Before you go, here’s everything you need to know about the fair.

When is the state fair in Oklahoma?

Opening day at the Oklahoma State Fair is Thursday, Sept. 12. The final day is Sept. 22.

Public activities at the fair begin each day at 10 a.m.

The carnival is scheduled to open at 11 a.m. on the weekends and at 1 p.m. Tuesday through Friday. That Monday, visitors can head to the carnival starting at noon.

Oklahoma State Fair ticket prices

If you purchase tickets before opening day on Sept. 12, you can save a few bucks. Advance general admission is $12 a day for anyone 12 and older, and $7.50 for children 6 to 11 years old.

A seasonal pass can be purchased online for $40.

When are Oklahoma State Fair discount days?

There are also several days where fair-goers can get in the gate for a discount. On opening day, general admission will is $8, or just $5 with a university ID.

On Monday, Sept. 16, those with a military ID get into the fair free. The following day, gate admission is just $4, plus nearly every food stand will be offering items for $4. That Wednesday, fair admission is free for ages 55 and up.

The standard cost of buying a ticket at the gate is $16 for ages 12 and up, and $10 for ages 6 to 11. Children 5 and younger get in free.

Carnival armbands cost $40 on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, and $25 during the week.

Free parking at the state fair

Luckily for the thousands of people attending the fair every day, there is plenty of free parking to the north and south of the fairgrounds.

There are also paid parking spots closer to the gates, and spaces for RV parking. Both paid and free parking are accessible from NW 10, May Avenue and Reno Avenues. A tram will run inside the fairgrounds each day.

If you'd rather hitch a ride to the fair using public transportation, EMBARK has scheduled the No. 9 and No. 38 bus lines to make temporary stops near the public entrance during the fair. Additional information will be shared on EMBARK social media.

State fair events include Disney on Ice, rodeo

The fair has food, rides and vendors, but there are also several opportunities for live entertainment.

From Sept. 12 to 16, Disney on Ice will hold performances of Magic in the Stars with ice skating, stunts, special effects and characters from Disney classic movies. Tickets range from $20 to $70; if purchased before Sept. 11, a ticket includes admission to the fair.

After that, guests to Disney on Ice will need to pay gate admission.

On Sept. 20 and 21, the Hoofs & Horns Spectacular rodeo will take place in Jim Norick Arena. Ticket prices range from $15 to $30 and like the Disney on Ice show, a ticket purchased before Sept. 11 will include free fair admission.

That's just a fraction of the events that are scheduled for the fair. There will also be comedy shows, a planetarium experience, a laser light show three times a night and numerous competitions.

Concerts at Oklahoma State Fair

Marquee performances at the 2024 Oklahoma State Fair include sets from Uncle kracker, Hinder, Mark Chestnutt, Jefferson Starship and Morris Day & the Time.

These concerts will be held at the Chickasaw Country Entertainment Stage and are free with gate admission.

A second stage, the Bandshell, will be open every day during the fair to feature Oklahoma musical artists.

What's new at the Oklahoma State Fair?

Food (lots of food, actually) is one of the defining experiences at a state fair. This year, the Oklahoma State Fair will have 36 new foods to try including spicy pickle pizza, a cheeseburger corn dog and something called a "Bronut."

The fair also includes a number of new attractions like German beer tasting, an urban homesteading expo and the Bison Experience.

Fair-goers will also notice a new admission policy for minors that was implemented on the final day of the fair last year. After 5 p.m. during the fair, attendees who are under 18 years of age must be accompanied by a parent, legal guardian or chaperone who is at least 25 years old.

The new policy also states that all minors should be supervised by a responsible adult. Fairgrounds staff may remove minors who are in violation.
