Phones down at Old Hickory lock, visitor's center in Middle Tennessee. How to reach them

Phone service to the Old Hickory Lock and the Lake Office and Visitor Center has been temporarily disconnected and a planned service interruption could last into October as contractors work to relocate underground utilities, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District said in a release.

The primary phone numbers were unhooked around noon on Sept. 20 and are expected to be out of service for up to two weeks, the release notes.

Folks can reach the lock at (615) 417-4942 and the Lake Office and Visitor Center at (615) 475-7161 if they need to connect with someone.

The Visitor Center remains closed to the public due to extensive damage from the December 2023 tornado, but some business can be conducted by appointment only, officials said.

“We anticipate having a contractor onsite in the coming weeks to begin clearing Rockland Recreation Area of the hundreds of downed trees and debris scattered throughout the area,” U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District Operations Area Manager Freddie Bell said in the release.

Power Plant Road and Rockland Recreation Area also remain closed along the lake's shoreline for public safety reasons.
