Police investigating IndyGo bus crash learn person was shot

INDIANAPOLIS — Police are investigating what occurred early Friday that led to a bus crash and a person shot.

About 6 a.m., first responders were dispatched to a serious bodily injury crash at North Harding Street and West 18th Street in the Riverside neighborhood.

Responding officers found two injured people, who were taken to a hospital. One of them was found to have gunshot wounds. Aggravated assault detectives launched an investigation.

The circumstances surrounding the shooting and crash remain under investigation. The crash involved an IndyGo bus and at least two other vehicles.

Two people with injuries from the crash admitted themselves to a hospital, according to officer Thomas Thompson.

Police said the streets will remain closed for several hours as detectives investigate.
