Porsche, Lincoln dealerships may get new homes in Hunterdon

RARITAN TOWNSHIP - Ciocca Car and Truck Company wants to build new homes for its Porsche and Lincoln dealerships.

The dealership is scheduled to appear Oct. 3 before the township Zoning Board of Adjustment with a plan to demolish an one-story building on Route 202/31 that was previously used as a Ford/Lincoln dealership and replace it with two new buildings.

The one-story building would be about 7,148 square feet and the two-story building would be about 37,556 square feet. The buildings will be used as Porsche and Lincoln dealerships.

Another building on the site will remain and will be used as a new car preparation center.

Ciocca is asking for more than 20 variances, including lot size, the number and size of signs, lighting, lot coverage, storage of cars and parking less than 20 feet from the right-of-way and landscaping requirements.

Ciocca Automotive acquired Flemington Car & Truck Country in the summer of 2022, a year after its founder and owner Steve Kalafer died. Ciocca then acquired 10 stores and 16 franchises, including Audi, Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, Chrysler, Dodge, Ford, GMC, Infiniti, Jeep, Lincoln Mercedes-Benz, Porsche, Ram, Subaru and Volkswagen.

In all, Ciocca Automotive, a family-owned company, has 42 dealerships with 25 brands across Pennsylvania and New Jersey.

A Sept. 19 hearing on a proposal by Flemington Family Partnership, part of the Fred Beans Automotive Group, to build two new dealerships, one Toyota and the other Nissan, on Route 202 across from the Flemington Mall was postponed by the Zoning Board of Adjustment because the meeting was canceled.
