How would you like to multiply your lottery winnings by 10? Meet Power Play. So, how does Power Play work in Powerball?

The Power Play is a $1 optional feature you can add to your Powerball ticket that can boost your non-jackpot winnings by 2, 3, 4, 5 or even 10 times, depending on what Power Play number is drawn.

Power Play Multiplier: How does Powerball Power Play work?

The Powerball Power Play is a special number that is randomly drawn before each Powerball drawing.  This "multiplier" number is chosen by a random number generator with weighted values for each multiplier option. Powerball with Power Play increases the amount you can win based on which multiplier number is drawn. This can make a big difference in your prize. (See the chart below for the different multiplier odds.)

How does Power Play work in Powerball? There are twenty-four 2X values; thirteen 3X values; three 4X values; and two 5X values. And when jackpots are below $150 Million, one 10X value is added to the mix! The value is drawn right before the numbers for the Powerball are. When the value is drawn, you know by how much your prize could potentially increase, then you just need to wait for the drawing to finish!

Power Play Powerball numbers: How much can you win?

How does Powerball Power Play work? The payout chart below shows how much each Power Play number drawn would boost your prize winnings. Important to know:

  • The multiplier does not apply to a jackpot prize (Sorry! We don't make the rules.)

  • The Match 5 numbers prize is always $2 million no matter which multiplier is drawn. Without Power Play, it's $1 million.

  • The 10X multiplier is only in play when the advertised jackpot is $150 million or less.

Power Play FAQ

Does adding Power Play to my Powerball ticket increase my chances of winning?

Unfortunately, no. Your chances of winning are the same, no matter if you add Power Play or not. Adding Power Play only has an impact on the amount won.
