Just last month, best-selling cookbook author Molly Baz made headlines after appearing on a Times Square billboard advertising the breastfeeding startup Swehl. The ad, which featured images of a pregnant Baz holding lactation cookies over her breasts next to the words “Just Add Milk,” was pulled after just three days for being considered “too racy.”

In the wake of this controversy, Kellogg’s Special K has now partnered with Baz on a limited-edition cereal box. The box is part of a new campaign that intends to empower expectant mothers across the country. According to the brand, Baz is the first pregnant woman to ever appear on a cereal box.

The box features an image of Baz posing with her pregnant belly as she enjoys a bowl of Special K. The chef also revealed that she shot the campaign while she was 39 weeks pregnant, according to an Instagram post.

"If you know me, you know I am a freak for cereal,” Baz said in a press statement. “Cereal got me through pregnancy in a very real way. And as a diehard Special K girlie, and longtime customer, it is an honor to be given the opportunity to design my own Special K box alongside my husband. I'm thrilled to use this moment as a billboard and platform where we can celebrate the mind-blowing miracle of pregnancy and motherhood that is happening around us all and is nothing short of a dream come true."

She wrote on Instagram that it was "without a doubt one of the greatest joys of my career to date to be the first preggo woman ever on a CEREAL BOX !!!”

"This campaign, which we shot at 39 weeks preg (!!!!), is all about celebrating pregnancy," Baz wrote, "and giving more air time and representation—with a cereal box as our billboard— to pregnant women and their very special, very real, pregnant bodies, everywhere."

The box is the first of the brand’s “Special for a Reason” series, which will spotlight a collection of inspiring individuals and share their stories. In addition to the partnership, Special K is also donating $25,000 to United Way, a nonprofit that works to build stronger, more equitable communities.

The box is available for purchase on the Kellogg’s website, or by via the links in their Instagram and TikTok bios.
