Princess Anne’s Latest Accessory at the Olympics Is the Ultimate Millennial Throwback
Princess Anne may not be a millennial (she’s a boomer, in fact), but she was just spotted rocking a ‘90s fashion staple that’s helping her beat the heat during the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.
Earlier today, the Princess Royal, 73, made a surprise visit to the Team GB (AKA Great Britain) House in Paris. For those eager to see what the hardest working royal was wearing during the surprise pop-up, the royal family posted a carousel of photos taken at the event on their official Instagram page.
One photo shows Princess Anne looking super cas in a billowy baby blue shirt with navy blue sweatpants and a pair of black kicks. But we quickly noticed that the princess was wearing the ultimate millennial throwback essential: the classic bucket hat.

The caption of the post read, “Wonderful to pop into the Olympic Village to cheer on athletes competing at the @Paris2024 Olympic Games! [medal emojis]. As President of the British Olympic Association, The Princess Royal has been attending events at the Games this week.”
And the caption couldn’t have been more right. A dozen photos of Princess Anne attending multiple Olympic competitions were released this week. And we couldn’t help but notice something strange about all of them: Unlike the rest of her family, the Princess Royal remains expressionless and stoic throughout the events.
One photo snapped shows the mother of two appearing unfazed as she watches the men's gold medal rugby sevens match between France and Fiji alongside her husband, Timothy Laurence.

We found Princess Anne’s stoic demeanor strange because it is a huge contrast to how other members of the British royal family have reacted at the Olympics.
Just take a look at this photo snapped of Prince William and Kate Middleton at the 2012 Olympics, where they can be seen clapping and cheering with glee from the sidelines:
