Raising a dog or puppy isn't easy, but it still doesn't even come close to the ups and downs of raising a child. While some find having a pet to be great practice before becoming parents, others think it's downright crazy to have a dog and a baby in the house.

However, one proud mom is ready to show the world that dogs and babies can be more than tolerant of one another. Chloe has two German Shepherds, Kaos and Mayhem, but she's tired of hearing Karens say that her new daughter shouldn't be around the dogs. While both pups have built a bond with the little girl, younger Shepherd Mayhem is always just around the corner, ready to comfort her girl.

On July 28, Chloe shared a TikTok video comprised of sweet moments between Mayhem and the baby--starting before the sweet girl was even born!

How sweet! It seems like Mayhem takes her role as big sister very seriously. Whether it's time for a nap or an exploratory sniff, this loving family dog is always ready to help—at least until it's time for a diaper change!

Commenters were quick to uplift this precious family with words of encouragement, but the best comments were the stories from other people who know German Shepherds as family dogs. @Alexandriahernan370 wrote, "I was worried when I had my baby 'cause my German shepherd is not friendly, but it’s like she knew she was meant to protect him when he was born. She never leaves his side." That's precious! Babies who grow up with dogs have no idea just how loved and protected they are.

Why Are People Skeptical About Shepherds?

Shepherd breeds are known as loyal, hard-working companions who will always put their family first. I know this without a doubt, but I can also understand why some people haven't made that connection yet. When I was young, my family had one negative experience with a poorly-trained German Shepherd, and I was afraid of that breed for years!

Even after I healed from my childhood phobia of dogs, I was always wary around Shepherds until my aunt and uncle adopted one when I was a teenager. They understood my hesitation and helped me understand big dog body language in a way I never had before. I started to see that his herding instincts and loud bark were his ways of interacting with people! I watched him play with his Australian Shepherd brother and catch snowballs in his mouth, and since then, I have seen just another dog when I see a German Shepherd.

While others may be wary of having a large dog around a baby, it's not their place to enforce their opinions on Mayhem, Kaos, and their baby sis. Everyone is clearly well-trained and calm, and Mama is never more than a few steps away.
