Rail services in parts of Devon have been disrupted after an incident, National Rail has said.

It comes after emergency services were at the scene between Plymouth and Totnes where the line was blocked.

The rail operator said the line has since reopened but passengers were advised to expect disruption until about 17:00 BST.

Great Western Railway said it was operating coaches between Plymouth and Exeter St Davids as more services may be cancelled.

British Transport Police said it was called to the railway line near Plympton at about 07:00 BST after a person was found on the tracks.

It said paramedics attended but they were pronounced dead at the scene.

"Inquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances leading up to their death," it said.
