Report: Family of Dahmer victim rips Ariana Grande's 'sick' obsession with serial killer

The family of one of Jeffrey Dahmer's victims is taking aim at pop star Ariana Grande for her recent comment about her past interest in meeting the Milwaukee serial killer.

In an appearance on the "Podcrushed" podcast co-hosted by actor Penn Badgley released June 17, Grande related an anecdote from earlier in her career in which, when asked by a young fan if there was a person living or dead that she would want to have dinner with, the singer said she said: "Jeffrey Dahmer's pretty fascinating. I think I would have loved to have met him, maybe with like a third party or something. But I have questions. … And the parents were like, 'We'll explain it later, sweetheart.'"

In a story posted June 27, Shirley Hughes — whose son Anthony Hughes was killed by Dahmer, a story that was featured in the hit Netflix series "Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story" — told TMZ.com that Grande's comments were hurtful to her family, and that it was troubling that the pop star didn't show any empathy for the victims' families.

Dahmer confessed to murdering 17 people between 1978 and 1991. He was killed in prison in 1994.

"To me, it seems like she’s sick in her mind," Shirley Hughes told TMZ. "It’s not fancy or funny to say you would have wanted to do dinner with him. It’s also not something you should say to young people, which she says she did."

TMZ also quoted Anthony Hughes' sister, Barbara Hughes, saying she'd love to see, and have the singer's fans see, Grande apologize.

"Unfortunately, until it happens to her and her family, she just doesn’t know what we have been through," Barbara Hughes said.
