New restaurant opening in former Triciclo location

A new restaurant is holding its grand opening Saturday at 3801 W. Vliet St., the site of the former Peruvian restaurant Triciclo.

Lisa Kaye Bistro & Catering will be open Tuesdays through Fridays for breakfast and lunch. Owner Lisa McKay has been operating her catering business from the location since June.

The menu will include $1 tacos on Tuesdays and a fish fry on Fridays. It'll also include beef, chicken and vegetarian pasties and a special pasty of the month.

McKay has been catering for nearly 17 years, but in 2010 began a culinary arts and culinary management program at Milwaukee Area Technical College. By 2014, she said she got serious with her catering business.

The bistro will not be a switch but an addition to her business, she said.

"We're in a neighborhood where they don't have a lot of restaurants," McKay said. "The opportunity is there, so we decided to give it a go."

Triciclo, the restaurant that previously occupied the space, closed abruptly last year.
