RI softball champs Cranston Western wins New England, off to Little League World Series

The Cranston Western Little League softball team just made history. The Rhode Island champions beat Connecticut, 6-3, Friday in the New England Regional Championship in Bristol, Conn., and will advance to the Little League Softball World Series in Greenville, N.C., which starts Aug. 4.

Rhode Island was a perfect 4-0 in this week's regional tournament, beating Connecticut (13-3), Maine (11-0), Massachusetts (6-5), and then Connecticut again in Friday's title game.
