Roseville firefighters find dead person inside burning home as neighbors attempt to help

Roseville firefighters found a dead person inside a home Monday after what investigators classified as an accidental fire broke out at the residence.

The Roseville Fire Department was called about 6:35 p.m. to the Cresthaven neighborhood for a residential fire in which callers said the home’s resident was unaccounted for, according to a news release posted on social media.

Heavy smoke shrouded the home as firefighters arrived to the single-family home. Neighbors outside attempted to find the missing person but could not breach the home due to the smoke, firefighters said.

Firefighters who went into the home found the dead person inside. The person will be identified by the Placer County Coroner’s Office once family has been notified.

“The Roseville Fire Department extends our condolences to the victim, their family and friends,” the news release said.

Firefighters reminded residents to check their smoke alarms monthly. There should be an alarm in bedrooms, hallways and in other living areas.
