The Sacramento Bee launches Edition — a digital news experience curated for you

Every day, Sacramento Bee journalists work to serve our community by delivering local news and information that readers can’t find anywhere else. We want to make our coverage easy to access, whether you prefer to read our journalism on your phone, on your laptop, in The Sacramento Bee app, in the print newspaper or in our digital replica of the paper.

Today, I’m excited to share the news that we are now offering a new and much-improved digital experience for our readers with the launch of The Sacramento Bee’s Edition.

After hearing your feedback, we have reinvented our daily online product, combining what readers like best about a curated newspaper experience with the interactivity and flexibility of a digital platform. This is not just an enhanced online edition of The Bee — it’s a total rethinking of our digital product with a focus on providing a seamless experience on every device.

The first thing to know about Edition is that it’s not a replica of our printed paper. It offers much more.

But it does have a look and feel that newspaper fans will love, and it’s still curated by Bee journalists with a focus on the local news, sports and opinion coverage that is most important to you, followed by national and lifestyle stories in different sections. We tailor the content to ensure you find everything you need to know to start your day.

Edition is also free from the deadline restrictions that keep print from feeling current.

Edition is built for your screen — not for print — but still has the ease of use as the printed edition.

Here are just a few of the Edition features that I think you’ll enjoy:

  • Responsive tabbed pages and quick access section navigation.

  • Story links inside articles that let you dig deeper into what you’re reading.

  • The ability to watch videos and browse photo galleries that visually enrich your reading journey.

  • Interactive puzzles and games you don’t need to print to enjoy (though you still can if you want to).

  • Enhanced features that make it easier to share your favorite articles.

  • Bold design and intuitive navigation that give you a pleasing reading experience on all devices — desktop computer, laptop, phone and tablet.

How can you get The Sacramento Bee Edition? It arrives each morning in your email inbox, or you can click on the link in the upper left of the homepage at sacbee.com. If you’re a subscriber who hasn’t activated your digital access, you can go to myaccount.sacbee.com to sign up.

If you want to experience Edition, but don’t have a subscription yet, visit mycheckout.sacbee.com to get unlimited digital access to local news that you can’t find anywhere else. And for those who are looking for the replica of our print newspaper, you can still find those pages online when you access Edition.

I hope you’ll start your day with Edition and then visit sacbee.com throughout the day to get the latest news. You can also sign up for our newsletters at sacbee.com/newsletters to make sure you never miss a big story.

Edition is our latest innovation as we work every day to provide strong, independent and essential local news, on multiple platforms, to Sacramento Bee subscribers. Our roots run deep here — we published the first edition of The Bee in 1857 — and our commitment to serving the Sacramento region is stronger than ever.

As always, thank you for subscribing and for your support of local journalism. If you don’t have a subscription, please consider signing up for one to help The Bee continue to deliver the content that’s important to our community.

We can’t do it without you.
