Saturday Seacoast Roundup: Oyster River girls win Manchester Invitational

MANCHESTER – The Oyster River High School girls cross country team placed five runners in the top 20 and easily ran away with the Manchester Invitational Girls Large School championship on Saturday.

Oyster River had a team score of 59, while Champlain Valley (83), Hanover (153), Cumberland (174) and Glastonbury (240) rounded out the top five, respectively.

Exeter (338) was 10th, Dover (568) was 21st, and Portsmouth (652) was 25th.

Oyster River’s Haley Kavanagh placed fourth overall in a time of 19 minutes, 17.1 seconds.

Kavanagh was followed by teammates Mackenzie Cook (fifth, 19:21.1), Haley Bezanson (13th, 19:42.5), Madelyn Cook (18th, 19:58.4) and Neely Roy (19th, 20:00.9).

Exeter was led by Eli Cross (22nd, 20:06.2), Alexis Paterna (27th, 20:14.1), Brianna Paterna (84th, 21:43.5), Molly Kells (100th, 21:57) and Claire Wilhelm (118th, 22:29).

Dover was led by Anique Poulin (21st, 20:05.7), Janelle Poulin (123rd, 22:41.4) Lily Fiorenza (137th, 22:54.7) and Lily Glode (159th, 23:39.3).

Portsmouth was led by Sophie Cosgrove (70th, 21:18), Ava Barrows (147th, 23:17), Chloe Carter (155th, 23:32), Kelsey Campbell (174th, 24:10) and Liv Russo (189th, 24:47).

In the Boys Large School race, Portsmouth (603) was 23rd, Exter was (615) was 25th, and Winnacunnet (873) was 34th.

For Portsmouth, Nolan Peters placed 17th (16:50), Theo Beattie was 111th, (18:31), Will Hart was 150th (18:55), Oliver Fitzpatrick was 163rd (19:04) and Nico Ranalli (19:20) was 178th.

Exeter’s Spencer Mann was 75th (17:57.4), and Winnacunnet’s Andrew Martin-Biggs was 81st (18:02).

HAMPTON - Owen Janetos, on an assist from Nate Dillon, scored for Winnacunnet in its Division I loss.

Winnacunnet goalie Sully Duffy had six saves. Dillon Fredette scored for Spaulding.

KENNEBUNK, Maine - Marshwood goalie Orrin Culp Dechant had five saves in this Class A South loss.

St. Thomas Aquinas sweeps four-team match

DOVER - Ryan Allard and Cooper Choate both shot a 2-over-par 37, leading St. Thomas to a four-team Division II sweep at Cocheco Country Club.

St. Thomas had a team score of 193, beating Oyster River (199), Kennett (213) and Alvirne (222).

Kendall Wishart shot a 39 for the Saints, while Andrew McMorrow and Joe Mollica each shot a 40, and Finn Perry and Cooper Miller both shot a 41.
