As the 2024 Paris Olympics are currently underway, one celebrity continues to make headlines for his overwhelming support of an underrated team.

Back in May, rapper Flavor Flav noticed an Instagram post from U.S. women's water polo team captain Maggie Steffens about the financial struggles the group faced in order to make it to the international summer games. After detailing how most Olympians on the team need to work more than one job to pay for expenses (which include travel, lodging and other accommodations), Flav commented how her story touched him and how he was willing to support the team in whatever they needed.

As Flav showed up and became the unofficial hype man for the U.S. women's water polo team, it was revealed on July 1 that he signed a five-year sponsorship deal that would also include the men's division. What's more, he continues to support the team during the biggest sporting event in their lives, as he cheered them on from the Paris stands during their July 27 Olympic winning qualifying match against Greece.

"Great win for the team," he captioned a video posted on TikTok. "Can't wait for the next match #olympics."

As fans watched and saw the unlikely bond between Flavor Flav and the water polo team, they couldn't stop commenting how much they adored his newfound love for the sport.

"Have I ever watched water polo before this Olympics? No. Am I now a US women’s water polo team super fan? YES," one person wrote. "There is so much power in having someone believe in you. I love how he is with the team. You're a class act, Flav!" another exclaimed. "@Flavor Flav, you are the epitome of a good human. Thank you ❤️🤍💙," a different follower added.

Although Flavor Flav's association with the U.S. water polo team is very new, he told People in May how this was an unexpected dream come true.

"By me sponsoring this water polo team, this is going to help me pull something off of my bucket list," he told the outlet at the time. "You know what? I always wanted to one day go to the Olympic Games and see it and see it live with my eyes, not just on TV. You know what I'm saying?... This is going to give me a chance now to come to the Olympic Games so I could see it live."
