Shocktoberfest, Beetlejuice and a Cat Video Festival. Here's what's on tap this fall at Cine

Ciné in Athens is gearing up for fall with a huge lineup of films, especially during their much-anticipated Shocktoberfest.

Ciné, located in downtown at 234 West Hancock Ave., has an eclectic mix of films coming later this month, September, and October.

What is Shocktoberfest at Ciné?

Shocktoberfest is a showcase of thriller and horror movies playing throughout the month of October.

"We have a couple of firm bookings but haven’t solidified our full October 'Shocktoberfest' lineup as of yet," said Executive Director Pamela Kohn.

What's coming soon to Ciné?

Sing Sing: Imprisoned for a crime he didn't commit, Divine G finds purpose by acting in a theatre group alongside other incarcerated men, including a wary newcomer. Tickets are on sale now for this limited release, opening on Friday, August 30.

BEETLEJUICE BEETLEJUICE: Beetlejuice is back! After three generations, Beetlejuice still haunts Lydia's life. Its only when someone says Beetlejuice's name three times and the mischievous demon returns to unleash his very own brand of mayhem. This movie is opening on September 5 and tickets are on sale.

JOKER: FOLIE à DEUX: The 2024 sequel to 2019's Joker, is a psychological horror, drama, and dark comedy that blends genres. The film is set in Gotham City on the brink of collapse and follows the shared delusions and violent impulses of Joaquin Phoenix's Joker and Lady Gaga's Harley Quinn. Ticket information and a release date is not yet on the website.

CatVideoFest 2024: A compilation reel of the latest and best cat videos. Tickets are on Sale now and 10% of ticket income from CatVideoFest will be donated to the Athens Area Humane Society. Shows the weekends of September 7 and 8 and September 14 and 15.

Fresh Kill: (1994) A remastered 35mm film print with filmmaker Shu Lea Cheang in attendance! Screens at Ciné September 19. Ticket information is not yet released.

THE SUBSTANCE: After Elisabeth Sparkle's boss fires her, a laboratory offers her a substance which promises to transform her into an enhanced version of herself. Coming to Ciné September 20, tickets are not yet available.

L'Inferno Live Score by Montopolis: (1911) An adaptation of Dante’s classic journey through hell, this masterpiece of silent film employs elaborate costumes, special effects, and set design to create an awe-inspiring and ethereal world. Tickets are on sale now for October 3.

THE FRONT ROOM: American psychological horror thriller film based on the 2016 short story of the same name by Susan Hill, and stars Brandy, Kathryn Hunter, Andrew Burnap, and Neal Huff. Coming soon to Ciné on September 6.

BETWEEN THE TEMPLES: A cantor (Jason Schwartzman) in a crisis of faith finds his world turned upside down when his grade school music teacher (Carol Kane) re-enters his life as his new adult Bat Mitzvah student. Release date is not yet official at Ciné.

MEGALOPOLIS: Set in an imagined modern United States, it follows Cesar Catilina (Driver), a visionary architect, as he clashes with the corrupt Mayor Franklyn Cicero (Esposito) in determining how to rebuild the metropolis of New Rome after a devastating disaster. Coming to Ciné on September 27, tickets not yet available.
