Animals including a snake and a group of hunt hounds have joined their owners at polling stations in the south.

Dogs could be seen tagging along with general election voters across Hampshire, Oxfordshire and Berkshire.

Assistance dogs are the only animals allowed in polling stations, but other dogs can be permitted at the discretion of the local authority.

Polling stations opened at 07:00 BST and will remain open until 22:00.
