NFL draft: Michigan's Aidan Hutchinson on why Tom Brady retiring upsets him so much

Michigan's Aidan Hutchinson, a possible top-five pick in the 2022 NFL draft, won't get to face off against one of his alma mater's most famous alumni.

With Tom Bradyfinally calling it quits recently, it'll be up to Hutchinson and other Wolverines still in the league to carry the Michigan banner from here on out.

(That is, unless Brady calls an audible and returns at some point.)

But assuming Brady is in fact done, Hutchinson is sad. Why? Well, Hutchinson joined Yahoo Sports in Los Angeles at Super Bowl LVI and said that Brady's retirement has forced him to update his "quarterbacks he most wants to sack in the NFL" list.

"Tom Brady was my No. 1," Hutchinson told Yahoo Sports' Jared Quay. "But a couple weeks ago, we find out he's retired. I was very disappointed by that."

Hutchinson is the son of Chris Hutchinson, a former Michigan defensive lineman and linebacker who graduated only three years before Brady arrived in Ann Arbor, and grew up just outside the area.

"I grew up freakin' dressing like Tom Brady at Halloween and stuff like that," the younger Hutchinson said, "so that would have been cool."

Worry not. Hutchinson has a backup list of the most sackable QBs at the ready.

"So now we're onto Aaron Rodgers; hopefully he doesn't retire," he said. "Also some of the young dudes coming up. Josh Allen. ... Gotta get (Joe) Burrow at least once. He's got all that swag."

Have we considered the possibility that Brady retired because Hutchinson is entering the NFL? It sounds ridiculous, of course. But Hutchinson has a chance to be the highest-drafted Michigan player ever, believe it or not.

The last Wolverines defender to crack the top five in the draft? That would be Charles Woodson, Brady's former teammate and Tuck Rule combatant who went fourth overall in 1998. So maybe it's not such a crazy idea after all.
