'Starstruck' Yankees visited by WNBA superstar Caitlin Clark

NEW YORK – A team with a lot of star power, the Yankees were a bit awed by the presence of WNBA superstar Caitlin Clark.

On the field before Saturday’s doubleheader opener against the Texas Rangers, Clark wore a pinstriped No. 22 home Yankees uniform and Yankees cap and was later escorted by Anthony Rizzo on a tour of the home clubhouse.

Clark was a pregame guest in manager Aaron Boone’s office, and "when she left you’re like, ‘Man, she was pretty impressive,'" said Boone.

"It’s fun to see the amount of our guys that were just kind of starstruck being around her.’"

Clark took a photo with Rizzo on the field, and the team later posted a photo of the Indiana Fever rookie star with Yankees captain Aaron Judge.

During the first game, Clark made brief appearances on the YES Network and WFAN broadcasts.

“Pretty cool meeting her and she put on a good start to the day (for us),’’ Boone said after the Yankees’ 8-0 win in Saturday’s opener.
