MICHIGAN CITY — “Starting Here, Starting Now” opens July 3 and continues through July 13 at Canterbury Summer Theatre, 807 Franklin St.

A revue of songs by Richard Maltby Jr. and David Shire, “Starting Here, Starting Now” offers a tender-tough inventory of love and the lonesome lack thereof as the songs forge a fast-moving, ingratiating look at how love can go right, wrong or nowhere.

From first kiss to painful breakup, romantic relationships come full circle.

As composer and lyricist, respectively, Shire and Maltby wrote the musicals “Baby,” “Big” and “Take Flight.”
