Sturgis Schools' Ebert given ‘highly effective’ rating

STURGIS — Sturgis Public Schools Superintendent Art Ebert has been rated a highly effective leader by the district’s board of education.

The board on Monday presented Ebert with the rating on his year-end performance appraisal during a closed session. The board utilized the School ADvance Administrator Evaluation System, a research-based tool that includes a rubric measuring 31 areas essential to successful instructional leadership.

“As a board, we are grateful for Dr. Ebert’s leadership and ability to keep Sturgis Public Schools moving in the right direction,” said board of education president Emily Halling. “We are confident he will continue to do so. We, as a board and superintendent, are in agreement there is always room for improvement. We are committed to working together for continued growth.”

Ebert said he credits the more than 300 district staff members for their dedication and care for students.

“We appreciate the continued support throughout Sturgis, and are excited for what the 2024-25 school year has in store for our students, staff, families and community."

Ebert has been superintendent at Sturgis Public Schools since 2018.
