Taylor Russell proved red-carpet extravagance doesn’t have to involve bright colors and maximalist accessories—it can just as well come in the form of an angelic gown in the softest of hues.
The actor brought the understated drama to the 81st Venice International Film Festival this Thursday evening in Italy, for the world premiere of Maria, starring Angelina Jolie. Russell turned heads on the carpet in a custom Loewe dress in a dreamy powder yellow.
The airy piece featured a textured strapless bodice that looked like it was wrapped around Russell’s torso, as well as a romantic transparent skirt that flowed into a long train, enveloping her strappy sandals in the same pastel tone. Rather than leave the train to trail behind her, though, Russell wrapped it over the front of her neck, letting it act like a halter-style strap and then fall freely on the other side of her back.
As if the gown and Russell’s dewy makeup and slicked-down short ’do weren’t enough wow factors, the movie star layered on the diamonds. The main piece was a tennis necklace which she wore backwards, featuring a massive white teardrop diamond that dangled off her back as she flashed a smile over her shoulder to the cameras.
To go with the magnificent Tiffany & Co. statement necklace, Russel wore a set of diamond-studded flower earrings, also by the luxury jeweler, as well as an intricate cuff covered in white and orange diamonds. A red-carpet look if we’ve ever seen one.
