Teen dies from injuries days after Rochester shooting

A Rochester teen shot on Nassau Street last week has died from his injuries, Rochester police announced Monday afternoon.

Jaden Scott, 17, was shot at least once on Nassau Street in the upper body around 3:30 p.m. Friday, said Capt. Greg Bello of the Rochester Police Department. He was found on the sidewalk and was taken to a Rochester area hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Scott died from his injuries early Monday morning, Bello said.

Officers continue to investigate the shooting, which marked Rochester's 30th homicide of 2024 and was one of five slayings that occurred in Rochester since Friday. The others included the killing of two women during a mass shooting during a picnic at Maplewood Park on Sunday, the shooting death of a man inside a Sherman Street home early Sunday and the stabbing death of a man outside a gas station on North Street Friday night.

No charges were filed in connection with the homicide, Bello said. Anyone with information about the slaying is asked to call 911 or RPD's Major Crimes Unit at (585) 428-7157.

Nassau Street is a road that spans Joseph and Hudson avenues.
