Thibodaux teen escapes New Orleans detention center, law enforcement seeks help

A teenager from Thibodaux escaped from a Jefferson Parish detention center.

Blaze Crochet, 17, escaped Saturday, June 22, from the Bridge City Youth Center in New Orleans, where he had been detained for charges related to violating probation. According to multiple New Orleans-based news sources, there have been at least seven escapes in the past two years.

The Lafourche Parish Sheriff's Office sought Crochet as a runaway teen in 2023: https://www.lpso.net/2023/02/14/runaway-teen-blaze-crochet/.

According to Lafourche and Terrebonne Parish Sheriff's Office Crochet is described as 5 feet, 6 inches tall, weighing approximately 170 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes.

According to the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff's Office, Crochet also has outstanding warrants for his arrest in Lafourche Parish for unrelated offenses. The Lafourche Parish Sheriff's Office was unable to verify the charges at the time of this writing.

A Terrebonne Parish Sheriff's Office news release said Crochet also has been placed into NCIC (Nation Crime Information Center) for his escape from custody.

Terrebonne Parish Sheriff Tim Soignet requested that anyone with information on Crochet's whereabouts call his office at (985) 876-2500 or dial 911.
