What time do fireworks start in Nashville? Get to these recommended viewing locations before they blast off

The sights, sounds and smells of Independence Day will soon fill the Downtown Nashville streets as hundreds of thousands of visitors come together to celebrate the city's 40th annual "Let Freedom Sing!" Music City July 4th event.

The event is jam-packed with events which will culminate in a spectacular fireworks show Thursday evening. Events will include live music, games, special performances, and more.  For the first time, drone light elements will be incorporated into the fireworks display. According to the Nashville Convention and Visitors Corp., 40,000 pounds of explosives and 200 miles of wire will be used.

What time does the fireworks show start in Nashville?

The fireworks and drone show will begin at 9:30 p.m. and will end at 10 p.m. Prior to the fireworks display, the show will begin with an opener from emcee Kelly Sutton at 9:23 p.m., followed by a special piece from the Nashville Symphony at Ascend Amphitheater.

Recommended viewing locations include:

  • Lower Broadway

  • Ascend Amphitheater

  • Riverfront Park

  • The Green at Riverfront Park

  • Public Square Park

  • Music City Walk of Fame Park

  • Korean War Veterans Memorial Bridge

  • Gay Street Connector

As a safety measure, people are cautioned against stopping on the shoulders of the interstate system to watch the downtown fireworks display, said Metro Police in a news release.

"To enhance public safety, the interstate loop on the east side of downtown will close between 9-10 p.m., with assistance from TDOT and THP," said police. "The closure will impact four interchanges: Shelby Avenue, James Robertson Parkway, Woodland Street/Interstate Drive, and Ellington Parkway/Spring Street."
