Two teens shot after Passaic Tech football game in Wayne; 16-year-old arrested

Two teenagers were shot and another arrested following a Passaic County Tech football game in Wayne on Friday night, the prosecutor's office said.

A 16-year-old juvenile, who was not identified, has been charged with acts of juvenile delinquency that if the suspect was an adult would constitute attempted murder and two weapons charges, the Passaic County Prosecutor's Office said Saturday morning.

The Passaic County Sheriff’s Office, who had officers at the high school football game, located a 15-year-old and a 16-year-old who both suffered non-fatal gunshot wounds around 7:30 p.m., the prosecutor said in a release. Both were rushed to St. Joseph’s University Medical Center in Paterson.

The shooting at Passaic Tech's Reinhardt Road athletic field occurred after the school's game against Lenape High School, a South Jersey team from Medford.

In a statement to CBS, a Lenape High School spokesperson said that no students or staff from its school were involved or injured in the incident.

"Our thoughts are with the individuals harmed and the Passaic Technical Institute Community," Lenape HS said in the statement to CBS.
