Virginia is for lovers, is New Jersey the state for haters? Maybe, don't worry about it!

Is New Jersey the state for haters? According to the official X account of the Garden State, it might be.

On Sunday afternoon, an X user who goes by @sorkincel posted, "I respect that Virginia is for lovers but we need a state for haters."

On Monday morning, @NJGov, the official X account for the state of New Jersey, replied, "you called?"

Since it was posted at 11:54 a.m. Monday morning, New Jersey's reply, which Gov. Phil Murphy reposted onto his official account, has gathered 3.9 million views, 12,000 reposts and more than 75,000 likes. Additionally, the witty reply has gathered over 600 comments, poking fun at the Garden State's stereotypical response.

"But it's a loving kind of hate," commented one X user to which @NJGov responded, "sure."

"I almost spit out my cannoli," said another respondent.

Another X user chimed in, "This is the level of self-awareness we need in government!"

This isn't the only viral moment to come out of the Garden State recently.

While casting the state delegates' support for Kamala Harris during the Democratic National Convention in August, Murphy said, "We're from Jersey baby ... and you're not!" as Bruce Springsteen's "Born in the USA" rang out in the background.

This sound has since been used on TikTok over 1,700 times, many of the videos sporting the term "Jersey core," highlighting everything Jersey from pizza to the shore, to Springsteen and more.

These videos have gathered a ton of comments, many of which said something along the lines of, "That was the most Jersey thing someone from Jersey will say."

On Sept. 5, also known as National Cheese Pizza Day, playing off his viral line from the DNC, Murphy took a jab at Connecticut on social media after its Gov. Ned Lamont posted the state's new pizza-themed highway signs which say, "Home of the pizza capital."

Murphy replied on X with a video, arguing that New Jersey pizza is better. The video was captioned, "We're from the pizza capital of the world, and you're not. Especially you, Connecticut. Happy National Cheese Pizza Day, New Jersey!"

What do you think New Jerseyans, is our state for the haters ... or does everybody else just love to hate on us?
