You Can Visit the 'It Ends With Us' Filming Locations in Real Life
It's Colleen Hoover's fictional world, and we're all just reading in it. Well, soon to be watching it, too. The film adaptation of It Ends With Us (aka, her most famous story by far, according to TikTok), is set for its theatrical release on August 9—and fans everywhere will be lined up to see it. The most exciting part of the movie (besides the obvious jaw-dropping plot and star-studded cast), is that the filming locations are all places you can actually visit in real life!
That's right, the film that stars Blake Lively, Justin Baldoni, and 1923's Brandon Sklenar was shot in places that the Average Joe can be seen walking around in everyday. (Hint: you're especially lucky if you're an east-coaster.) The reason that this is so exciting, specifically for fans of books turned into movies, is that this sort of brings the story to life some more.

Where was It Ends With Us filmed?
While the story takes place in Boston, Massachusetts, most of the film's scenes were actually shot in New Jersey. (We told you that east-coasters would be happy.) More specifically, the cast and crew pretty much set up shop in New Jersey locations like Hoboken and Jersey City, but also filmed in other areas within the state like Weehawken, Chatham, Harding, Newark, Parsippany-Troy Hills, and Plainfield.
These areas were seemingly chosen for a reason. According to My Central Jersey, Steven Gorelick (the executive director of the New Jersey Motion Picture and Television Commission) said the movie's director wanted a specific look for the film.
"I would surmise that the director and production designer were looking for a house with Dutch Colonial architecture, since the house they chose is a lovely example of it," said Gorelick. The house he's referring to is the childhood home of Blake Lively's character, Lily Bloom.
Were any scenes from It Ends With Us shot in Boston?
Still, scenes of the Boston skyline can be seen throughout the movie (which would make sense, since that's where the story takes place). In order to get these scenes, the crew headed the Longfellow Bridge and the Leonard P. Zakim Bunker Hill Memorial Bridge to get those iconic drops.
