Wait, is this downtown Wichita building now permanently named after Taylor Swift?

Lots of people have gotten a kick at how Tim Farha temporarily renamed the Baltimore for Taylor Swift in time for the Chiefs game against the Baltimore Ravens last week, but now it at least appears as though the name change could be permanent.

“It provoked joy, which is what the goal was,” said Farha, a co-owner in the downtown Wichita building once known as Occidental Plaza.

In case you’re the only person in America — if not the world — who is not aware, singer Taylor Swift is dating Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce.

The Kansas City Star ran The Eagle’s story about the name change, and at least one Kansas City television station then followed with a news report.

As Farha sat watching the game, a friend gave him a bit of grief for not taking the next step and putting up a sign that said The Swift. Previously, Farha had promoted it only via social media.

So Saturday, Farha and his Point Guard Management covered the Baltimore sign with one that says The Swift.

From just a bit of a distance on the street (not necessarily in close-up photos), the sign looks permanent.

Farha said he decided “we better rock it at least for the two weeks in between . . . the last game and the Super Bowl . . . and then for a victory lap afterwards.”

So it’s not permanent?

“I don’t think we could quite go that far, but at least it will go down in the history books.”

As what?

“A staple event in that property’s life. Let’s put it that way.”

Though Farha has heard from a lot of people about the name change, including his sister in Kansas City who saw the TV segment on it, he has not heard from the Chiefs or Swift herself.

“No, I’m waiting for her to call, though.”
