Want to enter your family carnitas recipe in a cook-off? Here's what you need to know

Have the best carnitas recipe in the neighborhood? Want to show off a family recipe and win a contest?

Why not enter Amigos' Carnitas Cook-Off on Saturday, June 22? Amigos locations in Lubbock, Plainview, Hereford and Amarillo are each looking for 25 guests to enter the contests to win one of the following prizes:

  • 1st prize – $250 in Groceries, Bene Casa Belly Down Disco and two bags of Kingsford Charcoal.

  • 2nd prize – $200 in Groceries, Kingsford Canopy, two bags of Kingsford Charcoal and Kingsford Swag.

  • 3rd prize – $100 in Groceries, Kingsford Grilling Gloves, Kingsford BBQ Tool Set, and a bag of Kingsford Charcoal.

On Saturday, June 22, Amigos stores across the area will each host the annual Carnitas Cook-Off competition from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Entry is free and can be done in-store or online. If space is available, guests can also sign up on the day of the contest. Participants will need to bring their carnitas ready to eat, and they are highly encouraged to be creative in their presentation and pairing with the dish.

Judging will take place between noon and 3 p.m.

For those not participating, food vendors will be at each location, along with a classical and vintage car show. Judging for the car show will happen at 11 a.m., with the winner receiving a Best in Show trophy.
