Brentwood Academy quarterback George MacIntyre didn't forget to remember.

Neither did any of his teammates who were there.

The date was Sept. 8, 2023. The place was Father Ryan High School. The home team won by 25.

It was the first time Brentwood Academy had been mercy-ruled by in-state opponent since the rule was adopted by the TSSAA in 2007. It was the first time Father Ryan defeated BA in a decade. It pretty much defined the worst season in BA history: 2-10.

"They kind of just manhandled us, took our will last year," MacIntyre, a Tennessee recruit, told The Tennessean earlier this week.

The foes met again Friday night, this time at Brentwood Academy.

This time the Eagles prevailed 31-2 with some members of Brentwood Academy's first state championship team in 1974 there as witnesses and former player named Jalen Ramsey on the sideline.

After "the worst half of football" BA coach Paul Wade ever saw — a 7-2 Eagles lead that was the result of MacIntyre's 50-yard touchdown pass to Kesean Bowman and a safety — the team returned to the field before the third quarter to the sight of the Miami Dolphins cornerback and his father, Lamont, on the sideline.

"I think we just took their will," MacIntyre said. "Just kind of looking at their defense, they looked like we beat them."

The Eagles (3-1), who were coming off a 23-13 win against Christian Brothers, have won three in a row.

The Irish (2-1) were coming off an off week. They won their previous game 27-21 against Pope John Paul II.

Brentwood Academy travels to Chattanooga next week to face McCallie.
