Waynesboro police capture 2019 homicide suspect wanted in Hampton

WAYNESBORO — A Hampton man wanted for more than five years on a murder charge was nabbed last week in Waynesboro, according to the Waynesboro Police Department.

Police arrested Cyndekah "Bobby" Evans-Wilson, 23, following a foot chase.

Shortly before midnight on June 13, a press release said Waynesboro police were conducting drug interdiction efforts in the area of West Main Street and Hopeman Parkway when they attempted to stop a vehicle for traffic violations after the driver was reportedly making erratic maneuvers. The driver allegedly tried to elude police before the vehicle was stopped in the 100 block of Summercrest Avenue.

Evans-Wilson, a passenger, reportedly bolted from the vehicle on foot but was caught, police said.

Evans-Wilson had been wanted on a murder charge since 2019. According to WTKR, a Hampton television news station, police were initially dispatched May 12, 2019, to a fight in progress but the call was upgraded to a shooting. When Hampton authorities arrived at the scene, they found a 22-year-old man dead.

Another suspect in the shooting, Kaleb Nicol, was arrested that same month. He was convicted of involuntary manslaughter in 2022 and sentenced to 10 years in prison, court records show.

Last week, Waynesboro authorities charged Evans-Wilson with possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute and possession of a firearm while in possession of drugs, both felonies. He was also charged with falsely identifying himself to law enforcement, a misdemeanor.

In Hampton, Evans-Wilson is facing charges of second-degree murder, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and possession of a firearm by a juvenile, according to the Hampton Police Division.

Megan A. Paschall, 20, a Waynesboro woman who police said was driving Evans-Wilson last week, was charged with felony eluding.

Both Paschall and Evans-Wilson are being held without bond at Middle River Regional Jail in Verona.
