This weekend in Bloomington: Adult Field Day, Bubble Fest, punk music celebration

Beyond Fourth of July festivities and the Monroe County Fair, Bloomington has plenty to offer for kids and adults alike this week.

From the nostalgia of Adult Field Day to the family fun of Bubble Fest at the WonderLab, here's some of what's going on in Bloomington this week.

Enjoy a classic movie under the stars

The Indiana Memorial Union will screen “The Goonies” as part of their Summer Outdoor Movie Series on June 27. The event is free and invites attendees to bring lawn chairs, blankets and snacks. The movie will begin at 9 p.m. at the Hamilton Lugar School, located at 355 N. Eagleson Ave.

Parking is available at a lot just east of the school or at the East Garage on Eagleson Avenue.

Be a kid again at Adult Field Day

Do you miss the free-spirited joy of field day that accompanied the final days of the school year as a kid? You’ll have your chance to relive the experience in a new form at Bloomington Parks and Recreation’s Adult Field Day.

Though the event will revive childhood games like dodgeball, musical chairs and lawn games, it also will include beer and wine for purchase and music from the 1980s-2000s. Climb the IU Outdoor Adventures rock wall while you're there.

Admission is $8 and cannot be purchased ahead of the event, which begins at 6 p.m. June 28 at Switchyard Park, 1601 S. Rogers St. Attendees must be 21 or older.

Let loose at Streetdance Rewind punk music festival

The Monroe County History Center, 202 E. Sixth St., will host Streetdance Rewind, a free, all ages punk music festival, from 5-9 p.m. June 29.

The event will include music, food trucks and a tattoo pop-up from artist Jerome Galloway. Local bands will perform at the outdoor event, including Yellow Rain, Glitter Brains, Wind, the Sera-Tones, Velocity, Full Stride, Situational Hazard and Chiba Dowa.
