Weekend events: Hot Wheels Monster Trucks, Bruce Springsteen tribute concert, rodeo

The weekend is finally here, and it's time to unwind and relax. Whether you want to attend a live performance or check out your local farmers market, pub parties, book signings, or family-friendly events, the Upstate is filled with various activities that people of all ages can enjoy. Here's what you should know about what's happening this weekend.

Wine Wednesday

Start your weekend early at Wine Wednesday at Pomegranate on Main, 618 S. Main St. in Greenville. On the patio, each Wednesday evening from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., you can enjoy free live music performances by local musicians and half-off bottles of wine. The artists vary each week.

Downtown Alive

There is no better way to start the weekend early in Greenville: Downtown Alive at NOMA Square located at 220 N. Main, runs every Thursday night through Aug. 29.

There are only a few weeks left to experience the festivities. The music starts Thursdays at 5:30 p.m. and ends at 8:30 p.m.

Bands play two sets at 5:50 p.m. and 7:20 p.m. on the Carolina Foothills Credit Union Stage. There are also local food vendors each week.

Beautiful: Carole King Musical

Starting Thursday, Aug. 1 to Aug. 10, at 8 p.m., you can watch the inspiring true story of Carole King's remarkable journey from a teenage songwriter to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame at Centre Stage, 501 River St. in Greenville.

The show features classics such as "You've Got a Friend," "One Fine Day," "So Far Away," "Take Good Care of My Baby," "Up on the Roof," "You've Lost That Lovin' Feeling," "Will You Love Me Tomorrow," and "Natural Woman."

The last show will be on Aug. 11 at 3 p.m. Ticket prices start at $35.

Main Street Fridays

Every Friday in Greenville on Main Street, you can join the community for various live music performances.

This weekly music series on Main Street at NOMA Square starts at 5:30 p.m. and ends at 9:30 p.m. on Fridays, with bands playing two sets at 5:50 p.m. and 7:40 p.m.

Bruce in the USA: Bruce Springsteen Tribute Concert

Bruce in the USA: The Bruce Springsteen Tribute Concert will be performed at the Greenville Theatre, 444 College St., on Friday, Aug. 2, and Saturday, Aug. 3, at 8 p.m. and Sunday, Aug. 4, at 3 p.m.

The Bruce In The USA show was born on the Las Vegas Strip in the winter of 2004, and it debuted at Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino in the majestic “V Theatre.”

Ticket prices start at $45.

Dave Mason's Traffic Jam

Are you a fan of rock music? Consider checking out Dave Mason's Traffic Jam Concert on Friday, Aug. 2, at the Peace Concert Hall, 300 S. Main St., in Greenville, starting at 7 p.m. Ticket prices range from $45 to $65.

Dave Mason, one of the founders of Traffic and who enjoyed a successful solo career, continues to play select Traffic songs at his concerts.

The concert includes fan favorites, deep cuts from Traffic and Dave Mason, and other surprise songs that share the story and essential milestones in an undeniably powerful era of rock 'n' roll history.

TD Market

From the beginning of May through the end of October, you can start your Saturday in Greenville at the TD Market from 8 a.m. to noon.

The market features live music, children's activities, and chef's demonstrations sponsored by partnerships with local organizations.

Greenville Drive vs Wilmington

Sports fans are invited to support the Greenville Drive minor league team as they face off against Wilmington at 945 S. Main St. The game starts at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 3, and at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 4.

Saturday will be Marvel Superhero Night, and Summer Reading All-Stars and Post-Game Kids Run the Bases will occur on Sunday.

Grill and Chill End of Summer Party

Group Therapy is hosting a free Grill & Chill End of Summer Party on Saturday, Aug. 3, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. in Camperdown Plaza at 320 Falls St, Suite G, with live tunes by Villanova.

The event will feature burgers and hot dogs, drink specials, and a wacky balloon artist, Big Air outdoor games, and more.

Paint and Sip Date Night

Is it date night? Are you looking for something fun to do with your partner? Consider getting your art buzz on at Wine & Design at 1175 Woods Crossing Road, Ste. 1B in Greenville.

The class includes live music and lasts two hours. You can bring your own beer or wine. This is a painting party open to ages 18 and up. The event begins at 5 p.m., and tickets are $70.

Hot Wheels Monster Truck live glow party

If you are looking for something for kids to enjoy, consider checking out the Hot Wheels Monster Truck live glow party on Saturday, Aug. 3, from noon to 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, Aug. 4, starting at 2:30 p.m. at the Bon Secours Wellness Arena located at 650 N. Academy St, Greenville.

Fans of all ages can experience the thrill of watching their favorite Hot Wheels Monster Trucks in the dark.

Black History Walking Tour

Do you enjoy learning about history? Consider attending the Black History Walking Tour on Saturday, Aug 3, in Greenville starting at 9 a.m. Tickets are $20 per person.

Get moving in this fun, free class designed to help kids work on coordination and collaboration while having a blast. Activities are based on the programming theme for the week.

Trey Duncan Live

Trey Duncan will perform live at Gather GVL, 126 Augusta St., in Greenville, on Sunday afternoon from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m.

Ron Rash book signing

If you're in the Spartanburg area and a fan of Ron Rash, you're in luck. Hub City Bookshop at 186 W. Main St. is hosting a book signing on Thursday, Aug. 1, from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. Rash will sign up to three books per person.

The event celebrates the paperback release of "The Caretaker." You can meet the author and have your books signed. Feel free to bring any copies you already own. Purchasing is not required to attend the event, but book sales support Hub City Bookshop operations and help bring authors to Spartanburg.

New Groove Artisan Brewery

New Groove Artisan Brewery, 4080 Highway 9, Boiling Springs, is hosting a beer terrarium class from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday.

The Rooted Egg has partnered with New Groove Artisan Brewery for a fun night of plants and pours. Attendees can grab a handcrafted beer, cider, wine, mead, or craft soda for non-beer drinkers and food from the bar. Then, they can spend some time crafting with fellow plant and beer enthusiasts.

Your ticket will include your choice of a New Groove beer glass or mug, one succulent of your choosing, all supplies needed, including decorative pieces such as moss, rocks, and trinkets, and step-by-step instructions on how to create it and how to care for it when you take it home.

Willy Way Run Club

Willy Taco, located at 930 E. Main St. in Spartanburg, hosts a Willy Way Run Club event every Thursday at 6 p.m. The run takes place on the River Birch Trail, directly behind the restaurant, on a Daniel Morgan trail system called Willy Way.

After the run, participants are invited to the patio for deals on fresh margaritas, cervezas, and shareables.

Pro Rodeo in Spartanburg

A professional rodeo competition will be held on Friday, Aug. 2, starting at 6 p.m. at the Piedmont Fairgrounds at 575 Fairgrounds Road. The event will feature live music, and the competition will start at 8 p.m.

Ticket prices are $20 for adults and $10 for kids four to 12 years old and kids under four get in free.

Woodruff Farmers' Market

There is no better way to start your Saturday than a morning at the farmer's market. Consider checking out Woodruff Farmer's Market at McKinney Park, East Pine Street in Woodruff, from 8 a.m. to noon.

Here, you can shop local produce, unique artisan crafts, and a community spirit that brings the farm right to your home.

Smoking Butt Heads BBQ, first anniversary

If you are a fan of BBQ, consider stopping by Smoking Butt Heads, located at 111 W. Main St. in Spartanburg, to help them celebrate their one-year anniversary. Festivities kick off at 4 p.m. Saturday.

Sides include creamy coleslaw and tangy BBQ beans. There will also be a special Q&A session with a World Champion Pit Master, who has multiple Grand Championships.

Start your weekend early in Clemson

On Thursday, Aug. 1, starting at 6 p.m., come to Frank Howard Field at Clemson Memorial Stadium, also known as "Death Valley," the home of the Clemson Tigers, to watch the Carolina Panther's open practice.

Clemson Park Event

On Friday, Aug. 2, bring your kids to Clemson Park at 114 Clemson Park Road from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. to meet Clemson Police Officers and other public safety agencies. There will be a DJ, bounce houses, food, fun, and more.

Car, truck and bike show

Blue Jar Barn, located at 110 Smith Motors Road in Anderson, is hosting a car, truck, and bike show on Saturday, Aug. 3, from noon to 9 p.m.

This event aims to unite everyone for laughter, food, and a good time, uniting the Upstate community for networking.

Sunday is a fun day

Looking for a way to wind down after the weekend? Consider checking out Dan McCullough's Scholarship Fundraiser Ice Cream Churn Off at 666 W. Front St. in Iva on Sunday, Aug. 4, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

The event will feature community games, an ice cream eating competition, homemade ice cream sampling, a gospel message, and worship. Remember to bring a chair.
