Wendy’s dropped a new Frosty flavor and it’s dividing customers

Triple Berry Frost (Wendy's ) (Wendy's)

The internet is totally divided on whether to truly love or deeply dislike Wendy’s newest icy treat.

On June 12, the chain announced its new limited-edition Frosty flavor: Triple Berry. Wendy’s called this nationwide offering “the biggest and juiciest flavor” to join its ever-growing frozen dessert lineup.

The chain says its berry-inspired Frosty combines three summer fruit flavors: strawberry, blackberry and raspberry.

“A Frosty that’s just as bright in color as it is in berry flavor, Triple Berry Frosty is the sweet treat of the summer,” the company writes in a press release.

“We’ve seen Frosty fandom continue to grow with each new flavor we roll out — and Triple Berry Frosty is sure to deliver,” Lindsay Radkoski, U.S. CMO for The Wendy’s Company, said in a press release. “Since 1969, Wendy’s has been famous for our Frosty and fans can trust that we’ll continue to evolve our iconic treat, inspired by our fans’ cravings and the flavors of the season.”

The chain says this new flavor profile combines sweet with tart, and John Li, the company’s global VP of culinary innovation, likened it to “walking through the farmers market in the middle of summer and sampling fresh berry preserves.”

Pleasant seasonal imagery aside, folks around the country have now been able to try the new flavor — and many of them have strong opinions.

“This is definitely giving Triple Berry,” says TikToker @shayclick in her online review. “Oh my gosh, I should have got some fries to dip this in, what was I thinking?”

“that Wendy’s new Triple Berry Frosty was so damn delicious yesterday, i dreamed about it all night 🤗,” posted one X user. “i’m getting another one today. XL !!!! 😋”

While much of the feedback was obviously positive, there are also lots of critics.

“the triple berry frosty tastes like cough medicine 😭…” someone wrote on X in protest. Another said, “the @Wendys triple berry frosty is not good! Bring back the dreamsickle!”

“That berry frosty from Wendy’s is about as nasty as you can get," another naysayer posted, referring to the aftertaste with a vomiting emoji.

The tone of some feedback shared was a little tough to decipher.

“just got the triple berry frosty and it tastes like a real good makeout sesh idk how else to describe it,” one customer wrote on X.

While one TikToker said it tasted “like Play-Doh,” the new fruity Frosty is also reminding folks of other desserts (you know, actual food) from both the recent and distant past.

“The Berry flavoured Frosty from Wendy’s tastes like those old Gogurts where it had two separate flavours on either end of the tube and you had to suck it all down to read the jokes on the tube,” wrote one X user experiencing a wave of nostalgia.

“The new berry frosty at Wendy’s is very similar to the grimace shake,” noted another, likening the treat to McDonald’s viral purple shake from 2023.

McDonald’s first offered the Grimace Shake on June 12, 2023, in celebration of the chain’s beloved character’s birthday. It featured vanilla soft serve and berry flavors. Still, people at the time debated its flavor profile, too.

Wendy’s Triple Berry Frosty is the latest in a growing list of iterations of the chain’s iconic dessert — Triple Berry is replacing this spring’s Orange Dreamsicle, and past flavors include a Pumpkin Spice, Peppermint and Strawberry. Last year also saw the restaurant use Frosty cream to top its cold brew coffee.
