Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center newborns, swaddled in Terrible Towels, will be featured in an NFL brand campaign to kick off the 2024 football season.

The Conemaugh maternity nurses can be seen getting the “Steeler Babies” ready for gameday in a 15-second commercial celebrating the joy of football and community support for the local NFL team.

The commercial is part of a 2024 season-long brand campaign recently unveiled by the NFL. “This Is Football Country” documents the passion behind the sport and its power to unify and inspire. The 60-second video showcases a rallying anthem, bringing to life how the universal joy and love for the game of football continues to bring communities together from all over the world.

In addition to the 60-second hero video, shorter vignettes feature enthusiastic football fans worldwide, including newborns and caregivers in Johnstown.

“Johnstown is Steeler country, so we are thrilled to be part of this global celebration of football, our local team, and the upcoming season!” said Tammy Barbin, director of marketing at Conemaugh Health System.

“Conemaugh Steeler fans, including our tiny newborns, wear game day black and gold and wave our Terrible Towels because football is in our DNA. It’s a tradition our healthcare team and community enjoy,” added Amanda Walbeck, RN, who appears in the video. The video began airing on Sept. 3.
